WordPress Marketing Plugins

5 Must Have WordPress Plugins for Marketers

I’ve been using WordPress for marketing myself, my courses and my businesses for 7+ years. Before that, I would hard code websites which I had done since the 90’s when living in Seattle. WordPress makes it so easy for anyone to run an online business. However, with so many plugins available, it can be hard finding the best plugin for your needs. I’ve put together this list of 5 WordPress Plugins I use for marketing my various WordPress website. Optin Monster Why do you need it? You need a plugin like Optin Monster to capture lead generation information from the visitor of your website. If you don’t you are missing out on converting those visitors into marketing opportunities. Did you know that 70% of those who visit your website will leave and never come back? Make sure you have a strong lead magnet to offer which makes it easier to get subscribers to opt-in to your list. Where can you get it? Optin Monster ThirstyAffiliates Why do you need it? Besides teaching online courses I run 2 websites to promote the courses of other instructors. Both websites Online Course Coupons and Free Course Daily run this plugin. It’s made affiliate marketing easy for me and I’m just running the most basic version. The plugin lets you cloak links which is important as a marketer because of the long links generated by affiliate marketing programs. I want something simple, clean and that looks like a normal URL and that’s what you get with ThirstyAffiliates. There are add-ons available to give this plugin even more functionality. Where can you get it? ThirstyAffiliates Sumo Why do you need it? I have been using the Sumo tools for a few years now on all my WordPress websites and also teach a course that covers the different tools. Sumo has practically every tool a marketer would want to have out of the gate with a new website. The Sumo tools are designed to grow your email list and grow traffic to your site. The folks at Sumo always have tons of great blog post to give you ways to grow your business. Where can you get it? Sumo Ninja Popups Why do you need it? Ninja Popups is another tool created to help you grow your email list by providing beautiful pop-up forms. Plus it’s available on Themeforest, which is one of my favorite sites for WordPress Themes and Plugins. There are tons of themes to pick from and you can drag and drop elements on the form to create the perfect look. Ninja Popups has A/B testing so you can find out which pop up perform the best on your site. It also is smart and knows when someone is intending to click out of your site and pops up to catch the visitors attention. There are a lot of features packed into this affordable plugin so check it out for yourself and see it in action. Where can you get it? CodeCanyon ConvertKit Why do you need it? Email marketing is at the heart of every successful online business. ConvertKit makes it easy to capture more leads and sell more products by easily embedding email capture forms anywhere. This plugin makes it a little bit easier for those of us using WordPress blogs, by automatically appending a lead capture form to any post or page. If you choose a default form on the settings page, that form will be embedded at the bottom of every post or page (in single view only) across your site. If you wish to turn off form embedding or select a different form for an individual post or page, you can do so within the ConvertKit meta box on the editing form. Finally, you can insert the default form into the middle of post or page content by using the [convertkit] shortcode. Udemy’s First ConvertKit Course Launches

I made the switch from email marketing app MailChimp to ConvertKit last November and loved it so much I created Udemy’s first course on ConvertKit. Why? My Udemy Co-Instructor Phil Ebiner and I explain in this fun promo video we shot for the course. I convinced Phil why he should use ConvertKit to grow his business Video School Online. I started using ConvertKit after building a sizable list with MailChimp’s Forever Free Plan. However I wasn’t seeing much growth with my revenue and my list had grown to the point where I got bumped into MailChimp’s paid plan. I knew that I had to do something different or I’d just be tossing money from my checking account. That’s when I started thinking about switching to ConvertKit since I live near Boise and have met the founder Nathan Barry. I liked what he was doing and followed his success with the books he had written and the amazing revenue he was generating. I would recommend you follow his blog for some useful marketing advice and check out these tools that I use too. I made the switch and started thinking about how I could teach others about ConvertKit through Udemy. Phil was part of a mastermind group I started but I had known him since starting on Udemy. I had followed his impressive success on Udemy where he’s now earning $10,000 a month from Udemy. However through our conversations I felt that ConvertKit could help him see the same growth I was seeing with my websites and the book launch I was working on. Here’s a breakdown of my Subscribers captures from today 4/12/2016 and showing the amount joining each day. March 25th was the day I imported 299 subscribers from my social media marketing list on MailChimp. That means I’ve added over 600 new subscribers to my list on ConvertKit in just the last 30 days. In that time I’ve launched a new book, new Udemy Course and my new website Free Courses Daily. Imagine the success you could have with your own list using ConvertKit. Phil and I will show you how by signing up for my list to take the course free. You don’t need ConvertKit to take the course but I recommend it and best of all you can use it for 30-days and ask for your $29 back if you aren’t satisfied. I will even walk you through getting it set up over Skype if you use my affiliate link below and get started now! Ready to sign up? By this point, you understand why I teach and preach ConvertKit. I switched over from using MailChimp because it just works better for me as an online entrepreneur. 3 Reason Why I Switched To ConvertKit From MailChimp

NEW: Take My ConvertKit Course on Udemy The only course on ConvertKit on Udemy is available now and co-taught with my friend and top Udemy instructor Phil Ebiner. I hope you will enroll in the course and learn about ConvertKit and the success both Phil and I have had in growing our mailing list. I recommended ConvertKit to Phil earlier this year and asked him to teach this course with me. We have over 2,700 students taking the course since it launched early March 2016 and the reviews have been very favorable. Scroll down to ready my earlier post on why I switched to ConvertKit last year. Plus my offer to help you get ConvertKit setup when you make the switch too. Enroll Now Enroll In ConvertKit Course Read more on why I love ConvertKit… I have been using the MailChimp Forever Free plan for at least a few years now and have build a following of over 3000 subscribers. That means that my plan is no longer free and I just recieved a bill from MailChimp for $50. That’s not actually bad considering I have paid for using their service up until now. But my focus has shift and I want something that helps me grow my revenue. But it was time to explore different options because my business is growing. Updated: My Subscriber numbers jumped after launching my new book “Udemy Life” in April 2016 I had been recommending MailChimp to those who follow me on social media because it was free until my list passed 2,000 subscribers in 2015 and is now nearing 3,000 if you combine subscribers from all my list. Because I run several websites each one has a different list and lead magnet to entice signups. I made the switch and took part of my mailing list to ConvertKit in late November and have been seeing much better engagement results. Now I’m moving my Udemy Instructor mailing list off MailChimp and onto ConvertKit and will only keep my smaller list on MailChimp. The screen capture above is a graph of my subscribers on ConvertKit over the last 30 days. You can see that I am averaging about 5 new subscribers each day and on pace to add almost 2,000 new subscribers this year! Just imagine what ConvertKit can do for your business by adding new potential customers. Here are the main reasons why I moved by list to ConvertKit. Simple It’s really easy to get started with ConvertKit and create your first form, import a list from MailChimp or other email marketing sites and sending out your first message which is called “Broadcast” on ConvertKit. It is also very easy to create what they call “Courses” and automate your list by creating a sequence of messages spaced out over several days. ConvertKit already lays that sequence out for you. All you have to do is fill it in with your own information and then switch each message to “Published” and then save the changes. Plus you can drag and drop your messages and rearrange them to where they work best in the sequence. Subscriber Count Most probably don’t know it but MailChimp counts subscribers each time they show up in of your list. That means if you are like me and have several list it is possible to have the same person in more than one list. If “Joe Smith” is in 3 out of your 5 list that you maintain, he would be counted as 3 subscribers by MailChimp. That means you could possibly be hitting that 2,000 subscribers in the “Free Forever” plan a lot sooner than you might expect. But with ConvertKit if you have 5 list and “Joe Smith” subscribes to 4 out of 5 of those list, Joe would only be counted once. Potentially saving you a lot of money if you have a large list and switch from MailChimp to ConvertKit. Support Support is super easy and build right into ConvertKit. It typically takes a few hours to get a reply and sometimes can take up to a day. I recommend that you check it out and start building your own list in 2016. It has a 30-Day Return Policy and plans start off at just $29.99 for 1,000 subscribers. Right now I’m adding over 40 new subscribers about every 7 days between my lists. Remember if you aren’t satisfied you can always export your mailing list and move to another provider. But I don’t think you’ll get the same results as you will with ConvertKit. Start converting students to revenue by building your own mailing list with ConvertKit! Sign Up for ConvertKit Here!   If you move to ConvertKit let me know and I’ll give you 45 minutes of my time on Skype to help you get started setting things up! Really, I want to help you earn more this year so don’t forget to contact me if you become an ConvertKit customer and if you enroll in my ConvertKit course on Udemy.
